Canadian Web Presence Directory Hints at Name Change
Toronto, ON (PRWEB) LocalHood.ca is getting set for an upgrade to its leading Canadian web presence directory. The new release will feature a number of upgrades including better rendering on mobile devices, Google+ and Pinterest integration, click to call options and a brand new interface for its advertisers.
The LocalHood.ca site is in beta release but adding advertisers on a select basis both by business vertical and by region. In a March 15, 2012 press release, the site announced that it may also undergo a name change that will feature a domain name ending with a dot com extension vs. the current .ca which limits the directory’s appeal to just Canadians.
According to a site spokesperson, Wilf Barnes, “we have engaged a Toronto based marketing and branding agency to develop a branding package for us that will feature a new logo and other marketing collateral.” Barnes when on to say “when our next upgrade release goes live, it’s likely that the site will feature a new name.”
Barnes did not reveal what the new name could be or a date for the new release but he did emphasize that the focus of the directory will remain on functionality and platform stability. The directory’s base code team has been focusing their development efforts on growing and improving existing features of the website’s back office system as opposed to adding a slew of new visitor functionality features.
LocalHood management has also asked its development team to focus on SEO-friendly URL structures across the site, specifically those pulled from search queries within its database. Faster loading pages are also a priority for the directory and according to Barnes “our newest upgrade will have W3C validation to ensure that our site is crawled error-free”.
The site claims to be growing a number of top search engine rankings for a large number of its advertisers both by business vertical and by geographic region. The site has recently added a sample listing for a Halifax mortgage broker to spearhead what it hopes will become the start of a strong web presence for financial services advertisers in Atlantic Canada. Halifax is a major Canadian city and mortgage brokers are a highly competitive vertical.
LocalHood.ca is an emerging, local web presence business directory that has recently launched as a live beta site. LocalHood.ca presently hosts location based information for a variety of Canadian businesses in addition to local event listings and classified ads.
